Environmentally Friendly Mattresses
Thursday, 22 January 2009
Irish manufacturer Home Lee Bedding has launched Ireland's first fully environmentally friendly mattress. "The Eden" is a foam mattress made from castor oil instead of petroleum based chemicals.

Another Irish manufacturer, Natural Sleep, have a range of mattresses and beds that are mostly constructed from natural materials. These mattresses keep a traditional spring mattress which is unique in Europe.
These types of innovations may help Irish companies to compete against their low-cost competitors and foster new markets.

I try not to buy stuff that is first indivudually wrapped and then wrapped again and then stuffed in a bag for me to take. I don't like paying for layers of paper and plastic I'm not eating or using anyway. i recylce all my plastic grocery bags into garbage bags and never buy small garbage bags. I buy only what I will use and never buy new books, or anything unless I absolutely cannot find what I want used. I participate in a web site called Freecycle that is dedicated to reuse as much as possible.
